I know that nobody wants a quickie on Valentine’s Day, but since it’s only a couple of days away, I’m doing a quick post with a quick recipe that’s perfect for romance—Sesame-Hoisin Pork Tenderloin and Carrots.

Why is Sesame-Hoisin Pork Tenderloin and Carrots perfect for romance? Because it’s a roast, and a roast is always good when you’re having company. Why? Because the oven does the work, leaving you free to entertain your guests. Which on Valentine’s Day hopefully includes romance.

Sesame-Hoisin Pork Tenderloin is also perfect for Valentine’s Day because, well, it’s pork tenderloin. What’s so great about that? It’s the perfect roast for two. Unlike a beef tenderloin or a chicken or a rack of pork, there’s just enough for both of you, plus a little leftover. So you can enjoy a remembering-last-night sandwich for lunch on the 15th.

One of the secrets to roasting a pork tenderloin is to blast the heck out of it. Why? Because it’s tiny. You have to cook it at a really high temperature to get some tasty browning on the outside before it’s overcooked on the inside. (That’s also why you don’t blast the heck out of, say, a big prime rib roast—that needs a lower temperature so it won’t be overcooked on the outside before it’s perfectly done on the inside.)

Perhaps best of all, Sesame-Hoisin Pork Tenderloin and Carrots is really quick and easy to put together. The super-flavorful cooking sauce uses just three store-bought ingredients. And sliced carrots cook alongside, for a built-in accompaniment. Add a simple salad, open a bottle of Riesling, and—ready for romance.

Quick, right?

Wishing you a delicious Valentine’s Day.
