Sweet, tart, a little fruity, a little perfumy, and garnished with rose petals, this cocktail is the perfect way to toast to rosy days ahead.
Makes 2
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 ounces water
- 3 1/2 ounces vodka
- 1 1/2 ounces cranberry juice cocktail
- 1 ounce Cointreau
- 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 teaspoon rosewater (see note)
- Edible rose petals, for garnish
In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the sugar and water, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool. If not using right away, chill.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the simple syrup, vodka, cranberry juice, Cointreau, lemon juice, and rosewater and shake well.
Strain into martini glasses, garnish with rose petals, and serve.
NOTE Look for rosewater at natural foods supermarkets, specialty food stores, and Middle Eastern markets.
