What's New

I love doing cooking classes and demonstrations - simply because it's a privilege to make a difference with people. Whether they're for kids, adults, serious cooks, or dabblers, my presentations are always fun and full of immediately-useful information.

Classes, demonstrations, and presentations include:
Television appearances
Ramekins Sonoma Valley Culinary School
COPIA: The American Center for Food, Wine & the Arts
Other teaching experience

Television appearances
I've been featured doing cooking demonstrations on KRON4 Weekend News, on Bay Area Backroads, and, for about 1 1/2 seconds, on the Food Network's Giada's Weekend Getaways.

Ramekins Sonoma Valley Culinary School
I'm currently a regular presenter at Ramekins, teaching both hands-on and demonstration classes on a wide range of topics including weeknight cooking, fish, chicken, soups and braises, quick breads and muffins, grilling, ice cream and sorbet, and food and wine pairing.

COPIA: The American Center for Food, Wine & the Arts
I spent 7 years at COPIA, Napa's world-class programs and exhibitions space, regularly teaching demonstration classes for up to 80 participants and ultimately becoming COPIA's Senior Culinary Instructor. Formats included short, lecture-style presentations and longer, multi-dish demonstrations, including COPIA's signature series, A Taste of COPIA Lunch. Subjects included chocolate, pizza, grilling, ice cream and sorbet, cheese, various fruits and vegetables, and food and wine pairing. I also worked with Visitor's Activities to conceive of, plan, and produce food programs - from 10-minute presentations to weekend-long events - and assist guest chefs visiting COPIA.

Other teaching experience
For two years in a row, I was a popular presenter at NorthBay Healthcare's A Day For Women, an all-day event in Solano County, doing standing-room only cooking demonstrations with an eye towards health.

As one of Landmark Education's most senior and successful volunteers, I spent two years leading seminars to introduce people to their courses. I also led the course that trained volunteers to lead those seminars - a rigorous, seven-month program with over 80 participants.

In 1993, I taught a course at The Learning Annex about how to open and run a successful cafe.

And back when I worked in advertising, I taught several semesters at both Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and the School of Visual Arts in New York. These are undoubtedly the country's two most prestigious art and design colleges, and their invitations to instruct were a testament to both my advertising and my teaching expertise.
